I live in a very peaceful valley located in Acton, California. This valley is also a corridor for the California grid. By driving by these power poles for the last eight year, I no longer saw them as objects of majestic awesomeness. They had all but receded into the background. And, until I undertook this project, I mostly saw them as a blight upon the landscape.
My time spent photographing them, though, has dramatically changed my point of view. They have acquired, in my mind, a majestic and worthy stature in this idyllic landscape. In this image, fog-shrouded hills inclose a panoramic view of the valley floor below.
This image and those that follow are views to the west from where I live. I am fortunate to witness these as almost a daily occurrence. That is, as long as there are clouds or fog looming above or upon the landscape.
The highly dramatic and explosive scene of the previous image can mellow to a very contemplative and serene view of the same landscape.

Even thought these power poles remain immovable objects in a landscape that changes very little, the environment in which these noble statues dwell changes considerably with the flow of onshore and offshore breezes.
